On Wednesday, July 28, 2021, Kechia Crump McSwain Dicks peacefully slipped into the arms of Our Lord and Savior and entered eternal rest. Kechia was born August 2, 1965 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the parentage of the late Ethel Crump and late Frank Narcisse. At a very early age Kechia accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She received all her catholic sacraments. Kechia loved many things but most of all, she loved loving her children, grandchildren, her family, and her friends. She also loved a good purse. Kechia received her educational foundation in the New Orleans Public School System. She attended Charles E. Gayarre Elementary School, Charles J. Colton Middle School and she received her High School Diploma from Joseph S. Clark Sr. High School. Kechia later continued her education at Southern University at New Orleans where she received her Bachelor's degree in General Studies. Kechia was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Epsilon Chi chapter since Spring 2001.
On June 11, 1988, Kechia married her best friend, the late Kelvin McSwain, Sr. and from their union, a daughter and two sons were born. Years after Kelvin's death, Kechia met and married Reverend Willie Dicks. Kechia and Willie lived in South Carolina until Willie's death. Kechia returned to her roots, New Orleans, Louisiana until her transition. Kechia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Granny), daughter, sister, friend and so much more to so many. Kechia will be forever remembered by those she loved and those that loved her. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: one daughter, Keshana Crump (Ryan) of New Orleans; two sons, Kelvin McSwain, Jr. (Jade) of Hawaii and Kemon (Franki) of Alaska; eight grandchildren, Kristen (Krissy), Kendrick (Fat), and Reign of New Orleans, LA; Kimani, Kelvin III (man-man), Ryleigh, Karsyn (mini-me), and Kyran of Hawaii. Two sisters, Denise Crump and Giselle Larkins of New Orleans, LA, Four brothers, Kevin Dunnaway (Darlene), of Texas; Ricky Crump (Sylvia); Noel Crump (Theva) of New Orleans; Frank Crump (Antoinette) of California and Brent Crump of New Orleans; two goddaughters, Gernell Cunningham and Rainey Foley, a godson Tyron Parker, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dedicated friends. Kechia was preceded in death by her husbands, Kelvin McSwain, Sr. and Reverend Willie Dicks, her parents Ethel Crump and Frank Narcisse and her grandparents, Olga and Frank Crump.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maria Goretti, 7300 Crowder Boulevard, New Orleans, LA. 70127, on
Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 11:00am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Interment at Mount Olivet, 4000 Norman Mayer Ave., New Orleans, LA., 70122.
