Christian W. Collins, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the age of 58 at his home in Avondale, Louisiana. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in Irish Channel where he lived until the of age 4; after which time his family move to Kennedy Heights on the West Bank in Avondale, Louisiana where he remained until his passing.

He was the son of the late Christine Brischo Collins and Calvin Collins Sr.

He received his primary and secondary education in the public school system, graduating from John Martyn Senior High School in Jefferson, Louisiana. He continued and successfully completed post-secondary education and academic studies at Louisiana State University (LSU) Fire Training Academy to become a certified Firefighter.

Christian held a highly decorated position of Fire Chief at the Herbert Wallace Fire Department (formerly named W.K.B. Fire Department) where he had been employed for 39 years. Additionally, Christian worked at East Jefferson Mits Transportation and Jefferson Transportation (JET) for 14 years. Christian, a member of several Organizations including the Fire Chiefs Association and W.K. B. Original Soul Patrol, a member of the Kennedy Heights Booster Club and he served on a few boards while being a proponent for giving back to his community. He participated in many community events where he presented and represented the Fire Department at Schools, Career Programs, Zulu Social Club and events throughout the Orleans and Jefferson Parish. Due to his skills, talents and abilities he received many accolades, awards, plaques and certificates in recognition of his outstanding and dedicated service, including the Cornerstone Award from Herbert Wallace Volunteer Fire Department as he was named Firefighter of the Year.

He leaves to forever cherish his memory a devoted and loving wife Dina Wade Collins, children Christy Collins (Kevin Jefferson), Christian W. Collins, Jr. (Chanel) and Christine Franklin. Two precious Grand Children Aloni Wells (granddaughter) and Kendall Jefferson (grandson). His siblings; brothers, Calvin Collins, Jr. and Tony A. Collins, and sisters, Lesia (Arthur) Mitchell, Saadia C. McGee, Somonia (Kenneth) Webb and Angelique (Darryl) Lanoix. Brother-in-law Terrell Wade and sister-in-law Tamika Washington. Mother-in-law Ms. Velda M. Wade, God children Patrice Swain, Ariane Anderson, Danielle Webb and James Hall-Collins and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relative and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1404 Erato Street, New Orleans, LA 70130.
